Luisa Bustamante - Architecture & Construction Project Manager

Your perfect balance of Architecture, Development, and Construction.

Laguna Garzon

Maldonado, Uruguay.

663 feet.

Designer and Project Manager.

This project provided a unique set of design challenges borne out of its natural environment. The lagoon’s delicate ecosystem, its depth, and the necessity of creating a structure that would only enhance the way visitors experience this natural landscape, all demanded a rigorous and focused design. Through various iterations, and unexpected challenges (the height of passing boats and depth of water), we accomplished a structure that minimized impact and maximized visitor experience. The shape of the bridge encourages a slower movement to take in the landscape views either by motored vehicle or by foot. The number of columns and height of the bridge also allow for boats to easily pass underneath.

Responsibilities:

+    Maintaining detailed 3D model of design and drawings.
+    Weekly meetings with Rafael Viñoly and structural engineer.
+    Communication with clients and city of Uruguay.

Project by Rafael Viñoly Architects.

Luisa Bustamante - Architecture & Construction Project Manager

I have 8 years of very unique experience and my excellent interpersonal skills, coupled with my project management experience and extensive knowledge of the design and construction process, make me a well rounded creative.

In my career thus far I have purposely sought out challenges that continue to shape me into the architect and person I aspire to be. Working overseas taught me to be subjective and receptive in both life and the workplace. Working at a design/build has given me an appreciation for the construction process and a respect for all trades involved. Working for Rafael Viñoly has taught me patience and a better understanding of handling high profile clients and projects. And finally, my most recent position as Project Manager at S9 Architecture has furthered my construction administration knowledge and provided great opportunity to further develop client relation skills.
